This book began as an attempt
to rationalize my decision that I did not care for either of the two
debating positions which were set forth in the book "Does God Exist?"
Accordingly, I began with essentially a point-by-point critique of the
major issues which were discussed in that book.
But as I wrote, something
happened: I was inspired to do more. I had several partially completed
books on my computer hard drive, and I was inspired to at least try to
pull them together into something of a coherent whole.
But even more than just being inspired to finish off a long delayed writing project, I was further inspired to actually DO SOMETHING!
It is truly scary to me to sit
here and contemplate the idea of the fundamentalist Christians taking
political control of this country, essentially without any opposition.
In fact, it scares me so much that I now feel the kind of bunker
mentality which many of those so-called "right-wing groups" must have
felt for many years now. In other words, I cannot feel truly safe until
I have gathered a group of like-minded people together and we have
established our own compound somewhere where we can survive in peace
and in some way promote the really important values which mankind has
always really relied upon for our day-to-day existence.
For me, seeing Spengler's
predictions come alive in my own time is like being placed into the
cast of a horror film, only to find out that it is not a film at all,
but reality. Think of your worst nightmare. Then think of meeting it on
the street some day. That is what it feels like now to me.
But I am not just another
rejectionist "nut case." I do not believe in trying to divorce the
government of this country, as is the apparent aim of the Montana
"freemen." I still believe in trying to work within the system to
change it, and only if it becomes a hopeless task, then would I seek
some alternative. For me, the alternative would never be armed
rebellion. If I cannot persuade by words alone, then how could I hope
to truly persuade by a combination of words and bullets? Besides, if
you adopt the mantle of the "armed militia" movements, that only
empowers the government to eliminate you by the force of its own arms.
I would rather go to prison for being "politically incorrect."
The real question, of course,
is how many out there are fully prepared, emotionally and
intellectually, to engage in such a struggle? And more to the point,
since the corrupt power structure has taken the form of a
fundamentalist Christian church movement, how many of us are willing to
cast off our Christianity because of the pollution from the power of
the Anti-Christ? If you study the New Testament, you will discover that
blind faith will almost certainly lead you to follow the Anti-Christ,
so why should we not expect that the Anti-Christ would show up as the
inspirational force behind our own fundamentalist movement?
Logic and reason are the only
way which mankind can hope to avoid being misled to our own
destruction. And if you base your life upon logic and reason, you do
not end up as a Christian. Instead, you end up as an Agnostic, as I now
know that I am. But are there others out there who are willing to band
together to form an Agnostic Church in order for us to gather together
our own power before we square off with the so-called "Christians" who
are, even now, taking control of our own government bodies at all
levels?
There is only one way for me
to find the answer to the above questions, and that is to go out and
test my ideas in the cauldron of public debate. So, it must be time for
me to take this show on the road . . . .
