Most individuals feel some degree of happiness from the act of volunteering to serve other individuals who are in a state of need. The individuals in need surely feel some degree of happiness to have their needs met. The only negative factor which would even seem to be possible would be if service were compelled, rather than voluntary. Accordingly, community service may not be compelled except as a form of punishment.
